The Board of County Commissioners is the chief legislative body in Hernando County. The Board meets the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month at 9 a.m., with the first Tuesday reserved for workshops, as needed. The Board meets in the John Law Ayers room located on the first floor of the Government Center at 20 North Main Street in Brooksville.

The five county commissioners are elected to four-year terms by the voters at large and represent the geographical district in which they reside. The Board approves the budget, adopts local ordinances and resolutions and establishes policies which govern the County and ensure the health, safety and welfare of the citizens.

Commissioners' duties are specifically delineated in Chapter 125, Florida Statutes. The Board also serves as the Governing Board for the Hernando County Water & Sewer District, which provides water and sewer systems for residents within the unincorporated areas of the County.

Notice of Joint Special Meeting of the Hernando County Executive Policy Group and Hernando County Board of County Commissioners

NOTICE OF JOINT SPECIAL MEETING OF THE
HERNANDO COUNTY EXECUTIVE POLICY GROUP AND
HERNANDO COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a joint special meeting of the Hernando County Executive
Policy Group and the Hernando County Board of County Commissioners has been scheduled to
be held on Friday, August 21, 2020, beginning at 2:30 P.M., at the Hernando County Emergency
Operations Center located at 18900 Cortez Boulevard, Brooksville, Florida. The purpose of the
meeting is to discuss potential impacts of Tropical Storm Laura and consider the need to declare
a State of Local Emergency.

This joint special meeting is open to the public. The meeting will be streamed live via
communications media technology. Citizens are encouraged to submit comments via email to
BOCCCitizensComments@HernandoCounty.us. Any questions concerning this meeting should
be directed to the County Administratorโ€™s Office, telephone (352) 754-4002. The meeting
agenda may be viewed online at www.hernandocounty.us.

If a person decides to appeal any decision made by the Hernando County Board of County
Commissioners with regard to any matter considered at such meeting/hearing or workshop, said
person will need a record of the proceeding, and that, for such purpose, said person may need to
ensure that a verbatim record of the proceeding is made, which record includes the testimony and
evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.
