EOC ALERT 8 - Tropical Storm Eta

Post Date:11/12/2020 1:47 PM

EOC ALERT - Hernando County Government - Hernando County Emergency Management

CURRENT SITUATION

The National Hurricane Center has canceled all watches, warnings and advisories for Hernando County at this time.

The center of Tropical Storm Eta is located approximately 40 miles north-northeast of Jacksonville, Florida. Eta is moving toward the north-northeast near 15 mph with maximum sustained winds near 40 mph and higher gusts. A faster north-northeastward motion is expected over the next couple days. Eta is expected to accelerate over the western Atlantic and move parallel to, but offshore of the Carolinas tonight and early Friday before heading well east of the mid-Atlantic coast by late Friday.

Residents are encouraged to monitor river levels over the next several days due to widespread heavy rainfall that has occurred over the past 72 hours.

This is expected to be the last EOC Alert for this event unless conditions change. It is anticipated that the EOC will transition back to Level 3 – monitoring after damage assessment efforts have been completed county-wide.
