Parks and Recreation
Effective Friday, October 4, 2024, several parks have been reopened post Hurricane Helene. Please see the list below for current park operations on the Westside of Hernando County.
Parks Reopened:
- Bayport Park, 4140 Cortez Boulevard, Spring Hill, FL 34607
- 1 boat ramp closed, 2 remain open
- Roger's Park, 7244 Shoal Line Blvd., Spring Hill, FL 34607
- Linda Pedersen Park, 6400 Shoal Line Boulevard, Spring Hill, FL 34607
- Jenkin's Creek Park, 6401 Shoal Line Boulevard, Spring Hill, FL 34607
- One of the two ramps to the dock is closed and under repair. The other ramp remains open and accessible to the dock. The restroom facilities are closed but portable bathrooms are onsite.

Enjoying Hernando County Parks
Hernando County offers an impressive park system, with over 20 developed parks on 424 acres and 452.5 acres of open space. Our well-
maintained county parks support a wide array of recreational activities, from casual strolling to active sports such as baseball, soccer, boating and swimming.
Parks range from those with Gulf and beach access and boat launches in the west, to community parks throughout the county offering activities for citizens of all ages, to a central district park hosting baseball and soccer events, to a regional park with horseback riding trails, to river access facilities on the Withlacoochee River on the east.

All county parks are ADA handicapped accessible
- No alcoholic beverages permitted
- No pets (except service animals) are permitted in county parks (except for those areas specifically designated for dogs)
- No lifeguards on duty - swim at your own risk
Pioneer/Stewy's Skate Park: Minor children are required to have parent consent to use the skate park.

Delta Woods Park Ribbon Cutting
To Commemorate Park Improvements by Hernando County Government
(Brooksville, FL) – Join Hernando County Government and Hernando County Parks and Recreation on Saturday, October 28, 2023 for a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate park improvements to Delta Woods Park located at 3400 Deltona Blvd., Spring Hill, FL 34606. The ribbon cutting ceremony is set to begin at 9am and will go live on Hernando County Government’s Facebook.
“Delta Woods Park is one of Hernando County’s most popular playground locations,” said Rob Talmage, Parks & Recreation Administrator. “This project has added features such as an ADA accessible playground, soft-play surfacing, and an awesome tree house theme that fits in seamlessly amongst the trees at Delta Woods. Being able to bring families and residents together to enjoy our beautiful parks and recreational areas, that’s what it’s all about.”
List of upgrades to Delta Woods Park:
- New playground - ADA accessible
- New fencing along Deltona Blvd. and the playground
- Automatic gates at the main entrance of the park
- Removed diseased trees in various locations
- Sidewalk repairs
- Repairs to the restroom building adjacent to the tennis courts
- New lighting installed on the tennis courts
