Emergency Building Permit forms effective Friday, September 27th at 7am. Completed forms are to be submitted to emergencypermits@hernandocounty.us

UNLICENSED CONTRACTING IS A FELONY IN FLORIDA DURING A STATE OF EMERGENCY
Florida Statute 489.127(2)(c) Any unlicensed person who commits a violation of subsection (1) during the existence of a state of emergency declared by executive order of the Governor commits a felony of the third degree.
Residents and property owners are encouraged to verify proper licensing and building permits are valid prior to performing any work.

For Your Information

Notice: Normal Business Hours Resumed

Effective Monday, July 8th, 2024, the Hernando County Development Services Department will resume normal business hours:

  • Days: Monday – Friday
  • Hours: 7:30am – 3:30pm

During these hours, our lobby and call center will be open to assist customers. This includes services from the Building, Planning & Zoning, and Code Enforcement divisions.

Permit Submissions

ATTENTION CONTRACTORS:

Online services for Hernando County’s Building Division have been restored for registered Contractors, allowing the following functions:

  • Scheduling inspections and viewing inspection results online
  • Self-Issuance Permitting for:
    • Residential Reroofs
    • Residential Irrigation
    • Residential Heating & Air Change Outs
    • Residential Garage Door & Window/Door Change Outs
    • Residential Electric Panel Change Outs
    • Sinkhole Investigation Permits
  • Uploading new applications, revisions, resubmittals, and permit documents

For public viewing of parcels and permit information, click here.

Applications can also be submitted in person at our office.

Inspections

  • Contractors can schedule inspections online via the Contractor Portal link above.
  • Owner/Builder contractors can schedule inspections by emailing bldg@hernandocounty.us or calling 352-754-4050.

Building Department Services Operations

By selecting the Permit Application Status and Property Search link above, citizens and contractors can:

  • View permit statuses
  • Search and review property history (searchable by owner’s name, address, key number, or parcel identification number)
  • View Contractor information (searchable by Contractor’s name, business name, or Contractor’s license number)

Paper applications are accepted:

  • In person
  • Via the drop box in the lobby

Inspections and Contractor Licensing are operating as usual, and escrow accounts are currently functioning.
