General COVID-19 Information

• I am sick with COVID-19 or I suspect I might be infected with COVID-19. Who do I call?

  If you are sick with COVID-19 or suspect you are infected with COVID-19, please contact your primary healthcare provider. If you do not have a primary healthcare provider, please contact the Florida Department of Health in Hernando County at (352) 540-6800, option 7.

• What is Hernando County doing in response to COVID-19?

  • Our leadership is working closely with other county officials from agencies including DOH-Hernando, law enforcement, fire & EMS and schools.
  • Our County staff is supporting the local DOH by coordinating planning, resources and response with our municipal and community partners.
  • Emergency first responders have expanded their personal protective gear and ambulance sanitation protocols. You may see our first responders in ambulances wearing additional equipment such as masks and gloves – no reason to worry as this is a strictly a precautionary step to stay as safe as possible.
  • We’ve enhanced our facility sanitation protocols to protect our employees and residents.
  • Our Public Information Office continues to share CDC messaging as well as Hernando County-related information with residents via the county website and across social media. Check out the county’s Facebook or Twitter pages for daily messages on this and other important topics.

• What should I do if I experience price gouging?

  Attorney General Ashley Moody’s Office has activated Florida’s Price Gouging Hotline. If you experience price gouging or scams related to the following, call 1-(866)-9NO-SCAM, or 1-866-966-7226 to file a report:

  1. Masks and face shields used to protect you from others if you are sick
  2. Sanitizing or disinfecting supplies such as hand gel, wipes and disinfectant sprays
  3. All personal protective equipment including gowns, booties, gloves and other protective gear
  4. COVID-19 test kits, swabs and related consumable medial supplies used in administering tests to be essential commodities
