Know Your Risk

Learn what hazards might affect your area. Determine if you are in an evacuation zone or a FEMA flood zone - keep in mind that they are different!

Pick Two Meeting Places

  1. Outside your home or business for sudden events such as a fire
  2. Outside your neighborhood, in case you can't get home or family members get separated

Choose a Contact Person

Ask someone out of the area to coordinate communications during a disaster. Family members should call this person to report their location. Send this person copies of important papers such as ID, insurance, etc.

Keep Your Contact Information Current

Update contact information on your mobile devices and make emergency contact cards to carry with you.

Think Ahead About Evacuation

Determine if and when you would have to evacuate, where you would go and how you will get there. Ask friends or family if you can stay with them. If you are in a safe area, invite them to stay with you.
