Peck Sink Preserve

  • Development of the Peck Sink Trail and Overlook. A Florida Department of Environmental Protection Grant funded project
  • Invasive Plant Management (FWC assistance funding)

Lake Townsen Preserve

  • Development and Permitting of a Gopher Tortoise Recipient Site for County Projects: This includes habitat restoration of severely overgrown longleaf pine sandhill vegetative communities to meet Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commissionโ€™s (FWC) criteria for tortoises. 

Cypress Lakes Preserve

  • Continuing habitat restoration of scrub and scrubby flatwoods vegetative communities. 
  • Enhancing trailhead amenities, including safe parking, trailhead kiosk, pavilion and restroom. 

Fickett Hammock Preserve

  • Enhancing public access amenities, including safe parking, trailhead kiosk and pavilion. 

Chinsegut Hill

  • Habitat restoration and invasive plant management.
  • Development of education hiking trails.

General Projects

  • Preserve management can involve invasive plant control, prescribed fire, tree thinning, and mowing as normal maintenance.
  • TIDE FOR A CAUSE: Partnership with Tidal Brewing and Roots Creative Company to bring awareness to the Environmentally Sensitive Lands Program and its Preserves. Together a special event will be held for each of the five ESL preserves and will be accompanied by a limited release beer brewed with inspiration from the feature preserve.
