Municipal Service Benefit Unit

The Department of Public Works’ revenue is funded through specific revenue fund sources that are legally restricted to transportation expenditures.  Our Finance Division is responsible for:

  • Managing the financial aspects to fulfill the goals and objectives of the overall department, including development and management of the annual operating and capital improvement budgets within approved millage/tax rates;
  • The administrative and compliance oversight of several State and Federal awarded grants for roads, sidewalks, and aquatic/waterway improvements;
  • The management and administration of Municipal Service Benefit Units (MSBUs) that provide road paving, street lighting and other public maintenance/improvements requested by property owners that go beyond service levels provided by the County and within defined areas and establishing annual MSBU assessment rates.
