Hernando County does not pick up your recycling. Curbside collection is provided by Republic Services in all unincorporated areas of the county, which excludes the City of Brooksville.  County residents can call Republic at (352) 540-6457 for questions about their service.  City of Brooksville provides their own collection service. City residents can call (352) 540-3810 for questions about service within the City limits.

Hernando County citizens with trash service also have weekly curbside recycling collection included in their service. Curbside recycling is collected with a two bin system where residents sort cardboard and paper in one bin and rigid plastic containers numbered 1-7, aluminum and tin in a second bin. These bins are then picked up by our contractor and delivered to the Northwest Waste Management Facility. The material is then further sorted and prepared for shipment to various locations by a contractor. Please note that our recycling program does not include glass or plastic bags.

If you currently subscribe to curbside trash service through Republic Services, once per week curbside Recycling is included in your service at no additional cost.

To get started with curbside recycling, you may either call Republic Services at (352) 540-6457 or sign up online to have your free bins delivered and determine your recycling pickup day.

On your pickup day, place all of your paper and cardboard in one bin and aluminum, tin and rigid plastic containers in the second bin. Place the bins curbside before 6 a.m. on your service day.

Curbside recycling is a great opportunity to help yourself, your community and the environment.
