Mission Statement 

TheBus is a cooperative effort to the Hernando County Board of County Commissioners, Metropolitan Planning Organization, City of Brooksville, Florida Department of Transportation, Federal Transit Administration and RATP Dev in serving the citizens with affordable public transportation.

Our mission is to provide safe, efficient and accessible transit services to citizens and visitors in need of transportation and to evolve into a system that ultimately provides for the mobility of all residents and visitors in Hernando County offering a viable choice among travel modes.

Whether you need a ride to work, school shopping, appointments or recreational activities, TheBus has a way to get you there. TheBus is in the business of connecting people, and helping people become more self-sufficient in order to achieve their full potential. Thank you for the opportunity to serve you.


Transit Development Plan

The Transit Development Plan (TDP) is a 10-year horizon plan requited by the Florida Department of Transportation intended to support the development of an effective multi-modal transportation system for the state of Florida. Public transit means the transporting of people by conveyances, or systems of conveyances, traveling on land or water, local or regional in nature and available for use by the public. The TDP receives major updates every five years.

Transit Asset Management Plan

Every agency must develop a transit asset management (TAM) plan if it owns, operates or manages capital assets used to provide public transportation and receives federal financial assistance under 49 U.S.C. Chapter 53 as a recipient or sub-recipient. The TAM Plan must be reported annually to FTA's National Transit Database.
