Penalties for Late Notices / Disconnection of Service

    • Hernando County Utilities Department imposes additional fees to accounts for late notices and delinquent re-connections when water service has been interrupted. These fees are paid by delinquent customers and not passed along to HCUD rate-payers.

** Please keep your account up-to-date to avoid these penalties and fees**

    • Penalty. Utility bills are due upon receipt and become past due 21 days after the billing date. Failure to receive a bill does not prevent service interruption or additional service charges. If your statement shows a past due balance on the date of the next monthly billing, a penalty of 5% of the past due balance will be added to the bill and water and/or sewer services will be subject to disconnect and additional fees

** New telephone number? Please call us to update your account at (352) 754-4037**

    • Actual Interruption of Water Service. Service personnel are dispatched to disconnect water and sewer service to a service address with an unpaid, past due balance between 30 to 35 calendar days after the statement date. A $40 delinquent charge is applied to your account if service is scheduled for interruption, and is not waivable. This fee along with the previous balance, penalties or fees, are required to be paid prior to HCUD restoring service. Please see HCUD disconnect policy below.

    Disconnect Policy

      • Utility bills become past due 21 days after the statement date
      • Delinquent charges apply if service is scheduled for interruption
      • Failure to receive a bill does not prevent service interruption or additional service charges
      • Partial payment is not sufficient to restore service
      • Service is subject to disconnection for failure to pay the past due balance in full
      • To reconnect service, all past due charges and fees are required be paid in full
      • Creating a future payment on InvoiceCloud does not create a payment arrangement for past due balances
      • Contact HCUD Collections staff for any questions about past due amounts - 352-754-4037
      • Overtime charges apply to ANY service after 3:30pm, weekends and holidays
      • Prohibiting access to HCUD meters can result in further charges
      • **** No Service will be Restored after 7 pm ****
