The Hernando County Local Mitigation Strategy is a plan developed by the county to reduce and or eliminate the risks associated with natural and man-made hazards. This plan must be in accordance with the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000.

The Emergency Management Strategic Plan serves to channel efforts relating to the overall direction and guidance of the Emergency Management program in Hernando County. It provides the foundation to guide decisions and activities. It is not intended to account for or identify all future issues that may arise. This plan anticipates that elements are sufficiently flexible to meet changing needs.
